Compostable Tableware Supplier in Europe: A Buyer's Guide for Hospitality

Compostable areca palm leaf and bagasse tableware supplier for hospitality in Europe

Hotels, restaurants, caterers, beach clubs and event organisers across Europe are moving away from single-use plastic. That makes choosing a compostable tableware supplier a real purchasing decision: which materials hold up in daily service, can you add your own logo, and how does ordering work when the supplier is in another EU country? This guide explains what Natudine — a compostable tableware and custom branding supplier based in Almere, the Netherlands — offers hospitality buyers, and what to check before you order.

What to look for in a compostable tableware supplier

  • Materials that suit your service. Sturdy plates and bowls for hot food, cups with the right coating, and paper products that can handle grease and moisture.
  • Branding options. Being able to print your logo on cups, napkins, bags and boxes turns everyday disposables into marketing.
  • Order quantities that fit a single venue. Not every café or beach club orders like a national chain.
  • A proof before production. You should see exactly how your logo will look before anything is printed.
  • Clear invoicing for cross-border B2B orders, including VAT.

Plain compostable tableware

Natudine's compostable tableware range is made from two main materials:

  • Areca palm leaf — plates, bowls and platters pressed from fallen palm leaves, with no plastic and no bleach. A natural, premium look for hotels, weddings and beach clubs. See the areca palm leaf collection.
  • Bagasse — a by-product of the sugar industry, pressed into plates, bowls, meal plates and platters. Sturdy and cost-efficient for higher volumes.

Plain products come in bulk packs (for example disposable bowls in packs of 25 or 50), alongside cutlery and napkins. For a material-by-material comparison, read areca palm leaf vs bagasse vs plastic.

Compostable or not: check the details

"Compostable" depends on the exact product, so ask your supplier precisely. Two examples from our own range:

  • Cups: a cup with a Bio (water-based) coating is compostable; a standard PE-coated cup looks the same but isn't. You choose the coating in the cup configurator.
  • Coasters: available in standard pulpboard or in compostable Bio kraft.

How ordering works

  1. Upload your logo in the configurator of the product you need.
  2. Choose the options — size, material, placement — and see the price for your quantity.
  3. Approve a free proof (digital or 3D, depending on the product) before production starts.
  4. Production and shipping from the Netherlands. Within the Netherlands, delivery typically follows within 5–7 working days after proof approval.

Ordering from outside the Netherlands

  • VAT: EU businesses with a valid EU VAT number are not charged Dutch VAT; the supply is invoiced as an intra-community B2B supply (reverse charge).
  • Shipping: shipping costs outside the Netherlands depend on the size and weight of your order. Contact us for a quote for your country and volumes.
